FRÍO EN LOS PERROS

Cuando llega el invierno, nosotros sacamos nuestra ropa más abrigadora y hacemos así frente al frío que nos aqueja. Sin embargo, con nuestros amigos caninos, es diferente, ya que hay muchas opiniones contradictorias:

Unos aseguran que los perros no pasan frío y que son inmunes a las bajas temperaturas. Dicen que se acostumbran a la temperatura del lugar donde viven y que no diferencian entre el frío y calor.

Otros afirman que los perros sí pasan frío y optan por ponerles ropas abrigadoras, temiendo que por las temperaturas bajan se pueden resfriar o en la noche pasar frío; incluso les colocan cerca de un calentador.

Realmente ¿Quién tiene razón?

No podemos dar la razón a algunas de las dos afirmaciones, ya que los expertos aseguran que los perros sienten frío o no dependiendo de la raza.

Sin embargo, podemos comentar algunas señales que indican que nuestro perro está pasando frio:

Ø Temblores
Ø Respiración lenta
Ø Movimientos pausados, incluso torpes
Ø A veces, el frío les provoca somnolencia
Ø La piel también puede verse afectada. Si notas que la tiene seca o pierde pelo, cepíllalo con más frecuencia. Esto estimulará la circulación del cuero cabelludo. 

Si identificas alguna de estas señales, te envío algunas sugerencias:

Ø Mantener un ambiente cálido y confortable tanto para ellos como para nosotros, cerrando ventanas para evitar corrientes de aire.
Ø Aislalo del suelo para que no tenga contacto directo con el frío y la humedad.
Ø Que su casita o habitáculo este protegido de la lluvia y de la humedad.
Ø La alimentación es muy importante, ya que el can requerirá una cantidad mayor de energía para protegerse del frío.

COLD IN THE DOGS

When winter comes, we take out our warmest clothes and with them we face the cold that affect us. However, with our canine friends, it is different, since there are many contradictory opinions:

Some assure that dogs don’t feel cold and that they are immune to low temperatures. They say that they get used to the temperature of the place where they live and that they don’t differentiate between cold and heat.

Others affirm that the dogs have cold and choose to put them warm clothes, fearing that by the lower temperatures, they could catch cold or in the night to pass cold; They even put them near a heater.

Really, who is right?

We can’t agree with some of the two statements, since experts say that dogs feel cold or not depending on the breed.

However, we can tell you some signals that indicate that our dog has cold:

 Tremors
 Slow breathing
 Slow movements, even clumsy
 Sometimes the cold makes them drowsy
 The skin may also be affected. If you notice that you have it dry or lose hair, brush it more often. This will stimulate the circulation of the scalp.

 Maintain a warm and comfortable environment for both:our dogs and for us, closing windows to avoid drafts.
 Isolate it from the ground so it doesn’t have direct contact with cold and humidity.
 Its house or cabin must be protected from rain and humidity.
 Feeding is very important, since the dog will require a greater amount of energy to protect himself from the cold.
